Rainbow Mountain palccoyo full day
Itinerary:
We will pick you up 4:30am. From your hotel, it takes 3 hours and a half by bus. You will travel through charming colorful villages, natural spaces with stunning views of the Andes, valleys, mountains. Following the southeast route from Cusco, after 2 hours by bus, you will take another way before Combapata, (3,600 meters above sea level). Then you will continue through the valley of Salka to the starting point, which is at 4800 meters above sea level. Where you will get ready to walk, while the guide provides important information about the schedule and walk.
After you will walk for about an hour on a small path that takes you to the rainbow mountain with beautiful views over some of the most beautiful rock formations and some of the most spectacular landscapes in the area such as the Rainbow formations. This day will be very exciting as we walk to the pass of the rainbow located at about 4,900 meters above sea level, they will have the opportunity to admire the contrast between the harsh austerity of the mountains and the valleys.
On the way, you will see a great variety of Andean flora and fauna. Such as: alpacas, llamas and vicuñas (wild, llama family) among others.
Once we arrive to rainbow mountain pass, from this point you can see some breathtaking views of the Vilcanota mountain range and the highest peak, the Ausangate glacier, 6375 m. After a well-deserved break and energizing snacks you will have plenty of time for many photos and breathe the fresh air of the Andes.
You will begin to hike down about 45 minutes by the same path that will take you where the driver will be waiting for us. The last stage of the trip, we will descend back to the salka valley on the same road that it take us to the lunch place, after lunch you will return to Cusco around 5 pm.
